That's it, all the replen stashes are in place and its less than a week to go until H hour. There is no turning back now. I just hope the weather is kind, as the long-range forecast is not looking good! I wanted to use this final opportunity to say thank you to all the corporate sponsors who have supported me to make this endurance challenge less daunting, and a reality. Without your help it would have been extremely difficult to raise the profile of the event and expensive to manage.
Arguably its wrong to name individuals, but I have to give a massive shout out to Chris at Web Studios for creating the event page, and so much more behind the scenes, all in support of me and Combat Stress. And to Motif8 for all the amazing branding that will hopefully get me noticed on the hill and start a conversation. Lastly to Jimmy Mulville and the team at Hat Trick Productions. Your incredible donation alone will save lives!
I’d also like to say thank you to all those who have offered encouragement, support and generously given up their time to train with me in the mountains and donate cash to Combat Stress. There are 66 million people in the UK of which 4% have seen military service. If every adult could donate just £1 we would raise over £40 million for Combat Stress, this is lifesaving help. I look forward to seeing many of my friends, colleagues and veterans in the hills at some stage along the journey.
Finally, to Emma, for putting up with my crazy ideas these last 27 years. Being part of my journey and giving me a reason to exist. She has seen the best and worst of me and is really the one person who truly understands why I am risking everything to ensure every household in the UK has heard of Combat Stress.
Video below: I feel extremely privileged to have my childhood hero, Alan Hinkes, the only British mountaineer to scale all 14 of the 8,000m summits, to personally wish me well during the Enduro214. He became an inspirational part of our team during the Enduro7 and has now continued to be part of the Enduro214 and someone I am now humbled to call a friend. They say never meet your hero’s but I have no regrets walking by his side in the mountains.
