Last week Sip attended the Soldiering On Awards, an annual event recognising the outstanding achievements of those who have served our country. Held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, Sip was nominated by friends and colleagues for a Lifetime Achievement Award, with over 650 guests gathering on the evening, including representatives from all three services, military charities, and corporate supporters.
On winning the award, and speaking after the event, Sip enthused: "I am very humbled to have been selected by the board as the winner of this year’s Soldiering on Awards Lifetime Achievement Award. I felt honoured to have been up again two stalwarts of charity and fundraising prowess. We hope this will strengthen the profile of Combat Stress and increase the support they deliver to over 2.4 million UK veterans."
"I would like to personally thank my former SSM now WO1 Carl Springthorpe, my old boss Colonel Bob and Rosie Gibbons from Combat Stress for nominating me. I felt privileged that they thought I was worthy of putting pen to paper, I hope I can continue to support all that need help in the future. Roll on Enduro214!"
Sponsoring the award, Duncan Bruce, vice president of customer experience at global brand Oracle commented: "All at Oracle would like to congratulate Sip Powers, a truly well-deserving winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Sip has shown inspirational dedication in supporting the Armed Forces Community and their achievements and embodies the spirit of this award. Oracle is delighted to have sponsored this esteemed award and it has been a privilege to meet the nominees who are all truly inspirational. There can though be only one winner and huge congratulations again to Sip."
